The 10 days were packed with superb music, theatre, film and exhibitions, with Nigel Kennedy's appearance on the opening night to a sold-out audience at The Apex Concert Hall, the main attraction for us. His contemporary interpretation of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons was breathtaking and to have the violin virtuoso in our beautiful market town says much for Bury St Edmunds’ cultural appeal. There is a wonderful array of talent booked and the Festival will feature eighteen concerts including winners of the 2015 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet competition the Van Kujik Quartet, Russian pianist Alexander Melnikov and Voces Thules, an Icelandic Medieval vocal and instrumental ensemble, among others. As ever, many of the concerts will be held in the beautiful Church of St Mary, South Creake, while one concert will be held in the Marble Hall at Holkham, when the Gould Piano Trio will perform works by Mozart, Rachmaninov and Festival Director Simon Rowland-Jones.
